This handsome pen showcases oak salvaged from the RMS Olympic, set in a stark black enameld pen kit.
The RMS Olympic was the sister ship of the RMS Titanic, and practically identical, as they were built approximately at the same time (The Olympic started 3 months before the Titanic, so she's technically the older sister) and at the same shipyard in Bellfast, Ireland.
While the Titanic infamously sank on its maiden voyage in 1912, the Olympic went on to serve in WWI as a troop transport, receiving the nickname "Old Reliable". The Olympic was then put back in use as a civilian cruise ship then ultimately decommissioned and sold for scrap in 1935. Of the three Olympic-class ships built by the White Star Line- Olympic, Titanic, and Britanic- the Olympic was the only ship that did not sink.
The pen comes with a certificate of authenticity that goes into detail about the ships history.
