FAQ

What is a "dice tower?"

Primarily used for table-top role playing games such as Dungeons and Dragons, Pathfinder, or the like, a dice tower is a way that players can keep their dice from rolling all over the play mat, the table, or even the floor. Have you ever stepped on a d4? It's not a pretty sight. Even if you don't play role playing games, you can still enjoy using a dice tower! Imagine how much less stressful Monopoly would be if you didn't have to worry about your Uncle Leonard's next roll ruining your perfect hotel alignment, which he totally meant to do.

Do you stain your products?

No! All of the wooden items we produce showcase the natural color of the wood species used. We don't believe in dying, staining, or otherwise artificially altering the color of wood- natural wood is beautiful on its own!

Applying any finish will naturally darken any wood, but wood finishes simply amplify the already beautiful natural color of the wood to which they're applied. It also protects the wood from some forms of damage.

What finish do you use on your dice trays/towers?

Our finishing process is ever evolving to ensure that the natural beauty is represented and protected for as long as possible. We use natural, food safe finishes to protect and preserve our products so that you can enjoy using them for years to come.

How do you know [wood of historical significance] came from [location]?

The vendors I purchase the historical wood from are known and trusted in many pen making communities and stake their name and reputation on the ability to prove the provenance of any material they sell. My vendors have been in the industry for decades and I trust their ability to source rare and unique pieces. Many pieces are salvaged from historical renovation or preservation efforts where the material removed was too damaged to be preserved properly and are sold to recoup some of the cost of the preservation efforts.

Not all of my work contains historically significant material. The pieces that do come with a certificate of authenticity to help prove that what you're holding truly has historical significance.

Do you ship worldwide?

Well...Yes and no. Yes, because I technically can, but I haven't found a way to ship outside the US without it costing an extravagant amount of money. It's not very likely that one would be interested in paying more for shipping than the item itself costs...I hope to fix this someday. If anyone knows a way to ship internationally cheaply, hit me up!

I have questions! How can I contact you?

My email address is nate@sherwoodcrafts(dot)com. Please feel free to get in touch with me if you have questions regarding a previous order, if you'd like to request a specific wood, or if you'd like to request a specific project! (I take commissions!) I'll get back to you as soon as I possibly can!

I want you to make me something I don't see on your site! Do you take commissions?

I would love to discuss building a custom piece for you! Feel free to email me at nate@sherwoodcrafts(dot)com and we can build your perfect project together!

The item that I want is out of stock! Can I still order it?!

Absolutely! I have very little storage space at my current location, so keeping a bunch of stock around is hard for me to do. If you're wanting something from my store that isn't currently on hand, let me know! I'd be happy to make more of anything for you! You can either get a hold of me by using my email address, or using the chat feature on the website (chat is available most days 8am-9pm)

How long does it take you to make/ship my order?

If I don't already have something in stock, please allow 2-3 days for me to make it for you. Shipping time should take an additional 3-5 business days.
